# Eternal Peace Treaty (1686)

To win Russia's participation in the Holy League against the Ottomans, the Commonwealth permanently recognised Russian possession of Kyiv and left-bank Ukraine. Within the broader Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth period: The Commonwealth of Both Nations elected its kings and prized noble liberty and religious tolerance.
