# Russian drone incursion (2025)

On the night of 9–10 September 2025 numerous Russian drones entered Polish airspace, and Polish and allied aircraft shot some of them down. Poland invoked NATO's Article 4 consultations. Within the broader Third Republic period: Democratic Poland transformed its economy, joined NATO and the European Union and became one of Europe's leading states, while confronting new security challenges on its eastern border. At this point in the timeline (10 September 2025), the governing authority was Karol Nawrocki (President of Poland). Historian and former head of the Institute of National Remembrance; won the 2025 run-off and took office on 6 August 2025.
